The Athletic Field became part of the Geneseo Park District on June 1, 2000. For many, the old athletic field was a quick jog down from the junior high under the direction of Elmer Reedy and/or JoAnne Gernant during P.E. class. Many Geneseo football alumni vividly remember moments from their legendary youth football days on the athletic field gridiron
The Athletic Field is located on East North Street (1 block west of Community Center). The Geneseo Park District runs youth sports programs such as flag football, tennis, and golf at the Athletic Field. The Athletic Field currently serves as the host to Geneseo Youth Football, Geneseo Middle School (GMS) 8th-grade football, and Geneseo High School (GHS) Freshman-Sophomore tennis.
The Athletic Field is open to all residents for a variety of uses such as; basketball, tennis, pickleball, running/walking on the track or just lounging on the grass

A new 42’ x 70’ building with a press box is planned to be completed by the end of 2020 at the Athletic Field. This new structure will replace the existing building. The space will include an area for Youth Football concessions and equipment storage. The Park District will have space in the building to house Day Camp and also for rentals and all of the FREE events the Park District Foundation sponsors at the Athletic Field.
The cost of the new building is estimated to be approximately $360,000. The Geneseo Foundation has graciously granted $50,000 to kick off the project with an additional $50,000 matching opportunity for each dollar raised. Geneseo Youth Football is partnering with the Geneseo Park District Foundation to help raise funds for the Park District. This is a fantastic community collaboration project and we are excited for the updated space.
All donations will be directed to the Geneseo Park District Foundation and donations of $500 or more are eligible for recognition on the Geneseo Park District Foundation’s Donor Wall located in the main hallway of the Community Center. >>Learn More
The first $50,000 donated will be matched dollar for dollar by The Geneseo Foundation.
Once your donation has been processed you will receive an acknowledgment letter in the mail from the Geneseo Park District Foundation that you may use for your tax deduction. Call Paula, Jodie or Anne at (309) 944-5695 with any questions.
