THANKSGIVING BREAK ART CAMP #23029

On Monday, our artistic energies will be directed towards building a loftier, more involved in-the-round sculpture. Our masterful creations will be made from recycled materials and paper mache. As our characters develop their unique personalities will become apparent and this will be summarized in a special illustrated Art Book.

On Tuesday, we will continue to develop our major sculpture project from the first day. This includes developing a background story for our characters. A special Turkey Assemblage sculpture is also planned as we look at the detail that can be added to an art piece as it is brought to a conclusion. Additional 2-dimensional art projects, games and a short movie about a major artist will also be a part of our two-days of exciting creativity.

The advantages and problems of painting vertically will be explored as the creative ideas of our young artists expand.

Aurora Borealis Landscape #33023

The Aurora Borealis has mystified mankind for centuries. Its’ illusive light seems to be a glowing curtain in the night’s sky. In this unique class we will guide students to understand how light and paint can work together to create a dramatic landscape painting that embraces art and science.

Pastel - Irish Landscape #33025

Pastels require careful use as they can easily become overused and “muddy”. Learning how to make glowing hills of Irish green fields, wooded forests, perhaps a flowing creek and a stone cottage is a creative and educational spring activity. As we approach St. Patrick’s Day our participants will be surprised with the unique detail they add as their pastoral image comes to a completion.

Spring Break Art Camp #33024

The first day is about painting. A “fresco” is watercolor painted on freshly applied plaster. Our participants will help in making their own plaster base in the morning, and then paint a creative watercolor before the plaster completely sets up. The afternoon will follow with a special painting on canvas. This distinct image will emphasis action and movement as it will be expanded on the second day of Art Camp. The day will include other art activities, a short movie about an important artist, new 2-D drawing techniques and educational art games.

In the second day of Art Camp our participants will be using the media of plaster to carve a bas-relief sculpture. This unusual technique will be a learning experience for all of our participants as we will model our artwork to have the appearance of an ancient artifact. Our young artists will be challenged to enhance their “action” painting of the previous day as a painted frame is added to their previous image. The day will include additional 2-D painting projects, a short movie about an important artist, and MUCH MORE!
