SENIOR CENTER

The Geneseo Senior Center is a place where seniors can come to fulfill many social, physical and intellectual needs. The Senior Center also offers nutritious meals, transportation, information and assistance, outreach, trips and tours, friendly visiting, counseling, educational opportunities, health services, recreation/social activities, volunteer opportunities and advocacy/social action.  The Senior Center room may be rented to the general public by calling 944-3793.

 Services offered through the Senior Center include:

Need Transportation? The Geneseo Senior Center offers a van service which will take you shopping, to appointments, and anywhere else you might need to go in Geneseo.  The hours of transportation are from 8:00 – 11:00 am and 1:00 – 3:00 pm.  Just give us a call at 944-3793. $3.00 round trip.

Prairie State provides legal assistance to persons with low income and people who are 60 years or older.  If you need assistance with Landlord Tenant Disputes, Social Security, Elder Abuse or Non-Criminal legal problems, call 944-3793 for more information.

55 Alive Mature Driving Course will entitle you to a reduction on your automobile insurance premium. This course is set up to sharpen your driving skills and help you become a safer driver.  Must have at least 10 participants to hold the class.  For dates and times call 944-3793.

500 Card Club is held the last Thursday of every month. We get together and have a great time playing500. Plan on joining!  We start at 1:00 pm and finish around 3:00 pm.

Use the one hour Rules Of The Road Refresher course to brush up on traffic laws before taking the drivers license renewal examination.  Included is a review of traffic signs and practice test. This class is FREE and is held the 1st Monday of every month at 9:00 am.

Blood Pressure Checks are held the third Friday of every month from 10:30 – 11:30 am. The Henry County Health Department comes to the Center to take blood pressures.  High blood pressure is a silent killer and there are no symptoms.  There is also a FREE program!

Lunch is served Monday through Friday at the Center for anyone over 55 years old.  You must call in a day ahead if  you are planning on eating at the Center.  The cost per meal is $2.25 and dinner is served at noon.  Home delivered meals are available for $2.40.  For more information call 944-3793.

Davenport Hearing comes the first and third Friday of every month from 11:30 am – 3:30 pm. Audabell comes once a month on the third Thursday of every month from 1:00 – 3:00 pm. Hearing tests are conducted right at the Center.
