Eat Pray LoveNew Program! Beginning Spanish Classes for Pre-K through Grade 8
Starting in September, the Geneseo Park District will offer continuing classes in Beginning Spanish to students Pre-K through grade 8. Classes will meet once per week for 6 weeks. The introductory class, Spanish Uno, will be offered in two different sessions. In January, the next level, Spanish Dos, will be offered in two different sessions for students wishing to continue to learn Spanish. Depending on interest, the next levels, Spanish Tres and Spanish Cuatro, will be offered late spring or summer.
Classes will be taught by Kris Kroener, a certified Spanish teacher with a Master’s Degree, who recently retired from GHS. She also has taught grade school children in summer school sessions and created the annual project that had high school students teach Spanish to second grade students. There will be a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 12 students per class.
SPANISH UNO
Have fun learning to speak Spanish and about Spanish Culture! Learn basic pronunciation and conversational phrases. Vocabulary will include colors, numbers, family, clothing, seasons, animals, sports, and school. Also learn about the countries where Spanish is spoken as well as some of their customs and holidays.
Cost: $50 Member/$100.00 Resident/$150.00 NonResident

Evaluate GPD Activities & Facilities
By · CommentsIn an effort to more effectively gather feedback on our programs and activities, we invite you to take a moment to complete our activity evaluation for Summer 2010 programs. Results of these evaluations are discussed weekly during our staff meeting. Any follow-up is handled by the supervisor or coordinator responsible for the activity. Just for fun, we enter the names of those providing feedback into a monthly drawing for Central Theatre movie passes.

We have several new programs such as Spanish Uno, Ab Class, and Flag Football for 1st/2nd graders.
The Geneseo Park District is looking to fill the following positions…
Marketing Coordinator : maintain and develop marketing collateral that includes but is not limited to our web site, brochure line, slideshows, and advertisements. Coordinator will be asked to maintain activity and project codes in our registration/accounting systems. 20-25 hours per week. Wage range $10 – $14 based on experience, skills, and certifications among other criteria. Download and complete the employment application form. Read the full job description . Water Fitness Instructor: Tuesday and Thursday evenings 8:00 – 9:00 p.m. Will train. Download and complete the employment application form.

Fall Racquetball League begins September 21st
By · CommentsLeague play begins Tuesday September 21st at 6pm at the community center. A schedule and playing times will be handed out the first night. The last day to sign up for the league is September 15th so hurry and enroll now.
If you consider yourself a competitive player or just one who plays for recreation this league is for you! You can either sign up for the WallBanger’s League which is a competitive league or Ace League which is recreational, a just for fun type of play.
There will also be a women’s league that combines both skill levels unless there is enough interest to create two leagues. Women’s league play begins September 22nd at 6pm and will play every Wednesday night.
