NOTICE OF PROPOSED PROPERTY TAX INCREASE FOR THE GENESEO PARK DISTRICT

I.  A public hearing to approve a proposed property tax levy increase for Geneseo Park District for 2025 will be held on December 11, at 5pm at the Geneseo Park District, 541 E North St, Geneseo, IL 61254. II.  The corporate and special purpose property taxes extended or abated for 2024 were $751,731. The proposed corporate and special purpose property taxes to be levied for 2025 are $1,106,335. This represents a 47.17% increase over the previous year.

III.  The property taxes extended for debt service and public building commission leases for 2024 were $1,153,589. The estimated property taxes to be levied for debt service and public building commission leases for 2025 are $784,883. This represents a 31.96% decrease over the previous year.

IV.  The total property taxes extended or abated for 2024 were $1,905,320.

The estimated total property taxes to be levied for 2025 are $1,891,218. This represents a .74% decrease over the previous year .

Audit Report 

The Geneseo Park District hereby provides public notice that an audit of its funds for the period January 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024 has been made by Lauterbach & Amen, LLP, and that a report of such audit dated May 30, 2025 has been filed with the County Clerk of Henry County, in accordance with 30 ILCS 15/0.01 et seq. The full audit report is available for public inspection online and at the Geneseo Park District office upon request.

Prevailing Wage Rates

It is the policy of the State of Illinois that a wage of no less than the general prevailing hourly rate as paid for work of a similar character in the locality in which the work is performed, shall be paid to all laborers, workers and mechanics employed by or on behalf of any and all public bodies engaged in public works.  Current prevailing wage classifications and rates the Department of Labor ascertained for each county within the State of Illinois. 

Public Notice

Last year, HB 3263 / Public Act 101-0504 (Mazzochi, D. / Curran, J.) was signed into law requiring the IMRF to post the following information on its website for each participating municipality: (1) copies of all resolutions adopted by a municipality on or after January 1, 1995 to participate in the IMRF if such a resolution was required; (2) an annual report listing each municipality and the date each municipality first became a municipality that participates in the IMRF; (3) all documents pertaining to each municipality's annual projected future contributions to the IMRF; and (4) information about the amount of each municipality's past required contributions to the IMRF for each year of participation on or after January 1, 1995 and before, if available. The new law requires participating municipalities that have a website to post on their website a hyperlink.
