Rules & Regulations

FAILURE TO ABIDE BY THESE RULES COULD RESULTS IN LOSS OF POOL PRIVILEGES. ADDITIONAL RULES MAY BE ADDED BY MANAGEMENT AS NECESSARY.

AQUATIC CENTER

  • Children under 10 years of age will not be allowed into The Geneseo Park District’s Aquatic Center without supervision due to their inability to fully appreciate the dangers of water and other hazards.
  • Children under 10 years of age must be with a guardian 14 years or older.
  • Parents /guardians are responsible for supervising children. Lifeguards are responsible for rule enforcement & responding to emergencies.
  • Children in diapers must wear swim diapers or plastic pants.
  • Horseplay such as running, splashing, shoving or dunking is prohibited.
  • Food & beverages are allowed in concession area only.
  • Outside food & beverages are prohibited. Water is allowed in non-glass containers only.
  • No coolers allowed.
  • Glass containers are prohibited.
  • Spitting, drinking or spouting water in pool or on the deck is not allowed.
  • Spectators must remain outside the pool area.
  • No tobacco or electronic cigarettes/vapes are allowed in the Aquatic Center. Alcohol by permit only.
  • No one should swim alone.
  • Diving in water less than 9 feet deep is not permitted except when allowed for competitive swimming and training.
  • No diving from the deck.
  • Swimming is prohibited at the Aquatic Center and Splash Pad when thunder is heard, or lightning is seen.
  • All persons are encouraged to take a shower before swimming.
  • Only clean footwear, baby strollers or wheelchairs are allowed in the Aquatic Center and Splash Pad.
  • All apparel worn in the Aquatic Center and Splash Pad shall be clean.
  • Balls, flippers, floats and other toys are ONLY allowed during family swims or pool rentals.
  • Admission to the Aquatic Center and Splash Pad shall be refused to all persons having any contagious disease, infectious conditions or under the influence of alcohol.
  • Only U.S. Coast Guard approved floatation devices are allowed. The Park District has life jackets available upon request.
  • The Geneseo Park District is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

SPLASH PAD

NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY

  • Parents /guardians are responsible for supervising children. One adult (age 16 or older) per three school aged children must be present to supervise.
  • No street shoes are allowed on the Splash Pad play surfaces. Only bare feet or aqua socks are allowed.
  • Children in diapers must wear swim diapers or plastic pants.
  • Horseplay such as running, shoving or rough play is prohibited.
  • Spitting, drinking or spouting water is not allowed.
  • No baby strollers or carriers are allowed near the play features.
  • No soap, shampoos, conditioners, lotions, or body washes are allowed near the play features.
  • Splash Pad use is prohibited when thunder is heard, or lightning is seen.
  • Food & beverages are allowed in concession area only.
  • Outside food & beverages are prohibited. Water is allowed in non-glass containers only.
  • No coolers allowed.
  • Glass containers are prohibited.
  • No alcohol, tobacco or electronic cigarettes/vapes is allowed in the Splash Pad.
  • Climbing on the equipment and fences is not allowed.
  • All apparel worn in the Splash Pad shall be clean.
  • Admission to the Splash Pad shall be refused to all persons having any contagious disease, infectious conditions or under the influence of alcohol.

DROP SLIDE

  • All riders must be at least 48” tall.
  • Maximum rider weight is 300 pounds.
  • Non-swimmers are not permitted.
  • Do not proceed down the slide until instructed to do so by the slide attendant.
  • No chain riding permitted.
  • All persons must enter and exit slide feet first. Standing, stopping, or sliding down head first is strictly prohibited.
  • No diving from the slide.
  • Hands must be kept inside the slide.
  • No flotation devices or other equipment, toys , etc. of any kind on the slide.
  • No goggles, sunglasses or glasses are permitted on slide.
  • No metal objects, locker keys, jewelry, metal snaps, watches, etc. permitted on the drop slide.
  • Skipping in line and rowdy play are prohibited.
  • No climbing on the slide or platform equipment.
  • Rider assumes full responsibility for any injury sustained.
  • Pregnant women are not permitted on the water slide for their personal safety.
  • Parents/guardians of children under the age of 18 are strongly encouraged to observe the activity prior to deciding whether to allow their child to participate. Adults are also strongly encouraged to observe the activity prior to deciding whether to participate.

DIVING BOARD

  • LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP
  • HIGH DIVERS MUST SWIM ACROSS (EAST SIDE) TO EXIT THE POOL
  • LOW DIVERS MUST SWIM TO THE SOUTH SIDE TO EXIT THE POOL
  • Head and neck injuries can result from improper diving.
  • Use caution when diving.
  • Check water depth and only dive in deep water areas. Ask if you have any questions.
  • Only one person on the diving board.
  • Do not double bounce on diving board.
  • Do not move fulcrum.
  • Make sure diving area is clear of swimmers before diving.
  • Wait for previous diver to reach the ladder before diving.
  • Dive straight off the board.
  • Do not swim under diving board.
  • No climbing on the diving board or platform equipment.
  • Report any safety hazards to agency staff.
  • No goggles/toys.
  • No flotation devices.

CLIMBING WALL

  • Lifeguard must be on duty.
  • Experienced swimmers only.
  • Only one climber is allowed on the climbing wall at a time.
  • Only one swimmer at a time in the Drop Zone.
  • Climb must begin from the water.
  • Flotation devices or goggles are not permitted.
  • No goggles/toys.
  • No diving and no backflips. Feet first entries only.
  • No climbing on the sides or back of the structure. Climb only on the hand holds.

LILY PAD WALK

  • Obey all lifeguard instructions.
  • Must be able to reach the overhead rope while standing on the first Lily Pad.
  • Only two people at a time are allowed on this attraction.
  • Rough play or “chicken fights” are NOT allowed.
  • After falling or letting go of the ropes, guests must immediately swim to the side and exit the pool.
  • Hold the ropes at all times – Do NOT try to run across or jump from Lily Pad to Lily Pad.
  • Do NOT try to hang on the ropes – guests must use the Lily Pads at all times.
  • Do NOT try to crawl across the Lily Pads – users must be standing.
  • Parents are not allowed to wait in the water or help their child along the lily pads.
  • No goggles/toys.
  • No flotation devices.

LIFEJACKET USE

  • Use lifejackets at your own risk
  • A LIFEJACKET WILL NOT KEEP A PATRON FROM DROWNING AND DOES NOT SUBSTITUTE FOR APPROPRIATE SWIMMING SKILLS AND/OR ADULT SUPERVISION OF CHILDREN.
  • Adult patrons and parents/guardians of minor patrons are solely responsible for determining that the lifejacket is the proper size and fit, and that they are properly adjusted and worn.
  • All children using a lifejacket must be supervised by an adult in the pool within arm’s reach at all times. A lifejacket is not a babysitter.
  • Lifeguards and other aquatic staff are not responsible for assessing patron swimming skills or ensuring that patrons properly wear lifejackets.
  • The Geneseo Park District will make a reasonable attempt to provide lifejackets upon request for children 6 months to adult.
  • Lifejacket straps must be secured, and the lifejacket must fit snugly. To check for a good fit, gently attempt to pick up the wearer by the shoulders of the lifejacket. If the lifejacket fits correctly, the wearer’s chin and ears will not slip through. Whenever a lifejacket is removed during your visit, it should be refit before used again, even by the same person.
  • Individuals wearing lifejackets are not permitted on the slides, diving boards, climbing wall, or lily pads.
  • Do not alter the lifejackets.
  • Do not put heavy objects, sit, stand, or kneel on the lifejackets.
  • Return lifejackets to the Manager’s Office when finished using and the Geneseo Park District staff will hang them up in the appropriate area.
  • Personal lifejackets or other floatation devices are allowed when approved by Geneseo Park District staff. These life jackets must be U.S. Coast Guard approved, Type II or Type III.
