Outdoor Pool Swim Lessons

 

Session Dates:

 

Session I: June 16 - June 26

Session II: June 30 - July 10

Session III: July 14 - July 24

Session IV: July 28 - August 7

 

Lessons will run for 2 weeks Monday - Thursday.

Makeup days will be held on Fridays if needed.

Lessons are only cancelled and made up in the event of thunder/lightning.

There will be lessons on July 4th if necessary.

Only two days will be made up per session.

30 Minute Classes: $18.00 Member $36.00 Resident $54.00 Non-Resident

Min./Max. for all classes = 6/10 Exceptions: Clownfish = 6/15 and Diving = 6/20

 

Swim levels are listed in order of progression.

 

Clownfish

6 months – 2 yrs with parent in baby pool. A parent/child water exploration class.

11:15 - 11:45 am

4:30 - 5:00 pm

6:00 - 6:30 pm

 

Puddle Jumpers

3 yrs with/without parent. Water exploration with/without parent in shallow end of big pool.

11:15 - 11:45 am

Lake Explorers

4 yrs with/without parent. Face floats, back floats supported and water exploration.

11:30 - Noon

12:30 - 1:00 pm

Ocean Explorers

5 yrs without parent. Must master face floats and back floats independently by the end of class.

10:30 - 11:00 am

12:30 - 1:00 pm

Tadpole

Must have passed Ocean Explorer or completed Kindergarten.

Participants work on floats, add on kicks and rhythmic breathing.

Minnow

Must have passed Tadpole. Participants will work on skills to be able to swim half way across

shallow end.

Whale

Must have passed Minnow. Participants will work on skills to swim front & back crawl one width

in shallow and deep water.

Shark

Must have passed Whale. Participants will work on skills to swim front and back crawl one length.

10:15 - 11:00 am

Dolphin

Must have passed Shark. Participants will work on two lengths of the front, back crawl and

demonstrate the scissors and whip kick.

11:45 am - 12:30 pm

5:15 - 6:00 pm

 

Barracuda

Must have passed Dolphin. Must swim two lengths of front and back crawl, a width of sidestroke

and breaststroke to move on to next class.

10:15 - 11:15 am

5:00 - 6:00 pm

 

Stingray

Must have passed Barracuda. Increase endurance with front and back crawl and swim one length

of sidestroke and breaststroke to move on to next class.

10:15 - 11:15 am

Marlin

Must have passed Stingray. Increase endurance in front and back crawl, sidestroke, breaststroke

and learn trudgen, trudgen crawl and double trudgen.

9:15 - 10:15 am

Mariner

Must have passed Marlin. Must complete thirty minute continuous swim using all strokes, as well

as learn the overarm sidestroke and the inverted breaststroke.

S.E.A.L.S. (Super Elite Aquatic Leaders in Swimming)

Age 10 - 12 years

This class is for those participants who have completed all the levels and wish to continue on

to increase physical fitness, work on perfection of strokes, build endurance and gain knowledge.

Participants will swim laps, dive for bricks, perfect strokes and learn the basics associated with

swimming lessons and lifeguarding.

9:15 am – 10:15 am

 

Diving

Must be 8 or older. All levels of ability. Offered Sessions I, II & III.

12:00 - 1:00 pm

 

Private and Semi-Private Lessons:

Private swimming lessons are one instructor to one student. Semi-private lessons are one instructor

to two or three students at similar swim levels. Lessons are thirty minutes. Those who wish to participate

must schedule a time with Jackie Beach 944-5695. Once requests are made, instructor and lesson time

will be assigned.

Age: 3 and older

Days/Times: Monday - Thursday (times assigned)

Cost: Private $60 M/$120 R/$180 NR

Semi $40 M/$80 R/$120 NR (per child)

 

 

Outdoor Pool Special Swim Classes

 

Special Swim

A great one-on-one course for participants with disabilities. Times and instructors will be assigned

when participants register.

Session: Consists of four 30 minute lessons

Age: 3 and older

Day/Time: Days and times may vary – talk to Jackie Beach to schedule.

Cost: $30 M/ $60 R / $90 NR

 

Dad’s Day Sunday, June 15th

Join us for a great day of fun at the Geneseo Pool. All Dads are admitted free when accompanied

by at least one child. This bargain will be for both public swim times that day. Enjoy the day with

Dad at the Pool! Dad is free with child. All other non-members must pay daily admission fees.

 

Little One’s Splash Time

Come with your infant, toddler or preschooler, who is also a member, to soak in the baby pool

without the crowds and before afternoon naps.Only the baby pool will be open. This is not a lesson.

A parent or guardian that is a member and at least 16 years of age must be present at all times.

Session: June 20 - August 8

Age: 0 – 5 years (with a parent/guardian that has a membership)

Day/Time: Friday 10:00 am - 12:45 pm

Cost: $3.00 for children (w/o a membership)

Swim Lesson Assistant

This course is designed for those who wish to aide in swimming lessons and is highly recommended

for those who wish to volunteer and/or work at the Geneseo Pool.

Session I: June 16 - 26

Session III: July 14 - 24

Age: 13 - 15

Day/Time: Monday - Thursday 8:45 - 9:45 am

Cost: $36 M/ $72 R / $108 NR

Min/Max: 6/10

 

Swim Lesson Instructor

Must know the basic strokes of swimming, have a desire to help others, and enjoy being around children. In

this class you will learn how to teach skills to students.

Session I: June 16 - 26

Session III: July 14 - 24

Age: 16 and older

Day/Time: Monday - Thursday 8:45 - 10:45 am

Cost: $90 M/ $180 R/ $270 NR

Min/Max: 6/10

 

Lifeguard 101

Must be able to swim underwater ten feet, tread water and swim the front crawl one length. Upon

completion of this course participants will have the basic knowledge for water rescues as well as

CPR and First Aid. This class is highly recommended for those who wish to volunteer or work at the

Geneseo Pool.

Session II: June 30 - July 10

Session IV: July 28 - August 7

Age: 12 and older

Day/Time: Monday - Thursday 8:45 - 9:45 am

Volunteers for the Outdoor Pool

If you are between the ages of 12 and 14 and believe you would like to volunteer at the Geneseo Pool,

this is the program for you. We are looking for volunteers to assist in swimming lessons and

lifeguarding duties for the summer. This will give participants the opportunity to see the inner workings

of the swimming lesson and guarding program. Sign up at lesson registration and Jackie Beach

will contact you to discuss volunteer times.

 

Kiwanis Fun Day August 1, 2008

Kiwanis and the Geneseo Community Park District invite you and your family to our annual

Kiwanis Fun Day Celebration! There will be games, music, prizes and lots of watermelon.

Registration is not necessary for Fun Day. We hope to see you there for all the fun rain or shine.
