In the fall of 2010, the Geneseo Park District launched a comprehensive park and recreation needs assessment to begin the process of updating our Master Plan. To maximize community input, we secured the help of Leisure Vision, a recreational assessment consultant. A survey was developed based on feedback from public focus groups and stakeholder interviews that were held in November of 2010.
The needs assessment survey addressed resident attitudes and opinions for a variety of issues that impact the successful delivery of recreation services. Topics include usage and satisfaction with current parks, open space and facilities, customer service, marketing information, programs, etc. Surveys were mailed to randomly selected households in the Park District. Thank you to the residents who took the time to return a survey, the number of returned surveys exceeded our goal by 25%.
The Board of Park Commissioners and the staff will use this information to support short term strategic decision-making and long-range planning as we develop the Master Plan. We are committed to serving the community through our programs and facilities. As we continue to develop the Master Plan, our mission is to enhance the quality of life in our community by providing a positive recreational experience for all.
